About Us

Neuroscience Student Forum is a student-run organization @ Mount Holyoke College

Our Mission Statement

The Neuroscience Student Forum encourages students to ask questions, seek answers, and grapple with new discoveries. Fledgling scientists, curious pre-med students, aspiring educators, and those simply fascinated by the brain will find the Neuroscience Student Forum a rewarding, challenging, and engaging scientific outlet. Our organization brings together students of all majors to strengthen social connections, cultivate a love of neuroscience, create leadership and growth opportunities, and build community through outreach and education.

Things we do

We have weekly meetings during which we typically discuss an original research paper that we've all read. We tend to focus on social implications, ethical context, as well as specifics on the research methods. During our meetings, we also play fun games and share advice on how to successfully complete the (somewhat daunting) Neuroscience Major at MHC

We also have a student-run week-long event during spring semesters to join National Brain Awareness Week, which is a campaign for celebrating and raising public interest in brain research.

We typically attend 2-4 conferences a year. While most of them are focused on neuroscience research, we also attend general biology research conferences. One of our favorite annuals conferences is NEURON (Northeast Under/graduate Research Organization for Neuroscience) , because it's a conference geared largely towards undergraduate students. In past years, our very own neuroscience student researchers have done poster presentations (and even won awards for excellent presentations).
